Burghley approaches.....

Milo has begun his run up to Burghley. He's fit and well and began his preparation well with a 5th in the Advanced Intermediate class at Salperton. Mark was especially pleased with his cross country performance and the dressage was good for him, see photo below....

His next outing was Barbury CIC***. Here the dressage was not quite as good, he had to do his test in some pretty horrible conditions - wind blowing, flags rattling, the 2* cross country happening around him - he scored approx. 60%, so not that bad for him but left him about halfway down the order (119 in the class!!). Sadly he had 2 down show jumping on the Sunday but then redeemed himself by doing a  brilliant clear cross country. Mark was full of praise for him and said he really enjoyed the round. They only had 10 time faults despite only cruising round due to being so out of the money. Mark wore a headcam so watch this space for the video. In the meantime here is a link to his show jumping round:

He finally finished 37th out of a very strong field.

On now to Gatcombe and the Open Championships, 5th to 7th August. He was 3rd here in the Advanced last year but the Open class will be a tougher competition so I think our expectations will have to be set a bit lower than that!

His Burghley entry has gone in and we're getting more excited each day. The top European horses will all be at the European Championships rather than Burghley so the company won't be quite as tough as normal so we have a little bit of hope.....

Thats it for now.
